We are 'up front' from the beginning to say that we are not mountainbiking specialists although we have some knowledge having been on a 2 day trail leading course using green, blue and a bit of red trails. We now appreciate what we don't know about true mountainbiking!
This is not to say we can't use our cycling tour arranging skills and knowledge of the region for the benefit of mountainbikers or partners/families. We can arrange long-weekend or longer tours including accomodation provision to five of the acclaimed mountainbiking 7 Stanes centres in Dumfries and Galloway or other off road/mountainbiking areas at Drumlanrig Castle, Galloway Forest Park or using National Cycle Route off road sections. We are continuing to develop a menu of cycling breaks with different themes which may be of interest to our customers. These routes visit places of interest according to the particular theme and combine them with the best cycling routes and accommodation locations along the way.
The tours can be of varying lengths and distances with visits to places en route according to a theme, e.g. Nature based Trails, Galloway Gourmet Trail, Pub lunch pedals etc. and 'Doors Open Days 2006'

As well as cycling, Dumfries and Galloway is noted for its variety of walks, whether in the Galloway Hills, Galloway Forest Park or the many town or coastal walks. With similar skills involved, including our mapping system, we are pleased to design tailormade walking breaks to suit customers preferences as to duration, difficulty, terrain, facilities, restaurants etc along with accommodation provision in B&B's, Guest Houses or hotels of all standards.
Should some members of a cycling or walking party wish to undertake some other activity, we are able to provide information and advice along with accommodation on golf, horse riding and trekking, bowling, sailing, water skiing etc and even non-active breaks such as spa and therapy breaks ... [more]
We are happy to provide arrival and departure advice and assistance to our customers. We are able to do pickups from Dumfries and Lockerbie rail stations which can be accessed from both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports as well as lines from England. Our nearest airport is Glasgow Prestwick (1 hour) which is used by the low cost airline Ryanair. A short rail journey from the airport to Ayr then a bus to Castle Douglas is available or pick up can be arranged. We can also be reached by bus ferry and bus from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
We normally initially meet our customers at the arranged first night's accommodation. When freshened up after the journey we go over the tour itinerary and supply daily route information, maps and any leaflets available on places of interest on the tour. We are happy to discuss any other requests for the tour.
This year we have increased our accommodation options. As well as our usual tried and tested comfortable and friendly Bed and Breakfast and Guest Houses, we offer budget accommodation at hostels (no breakfast provided) and also a higher price bracket at good quality Guest Houses (4 star), small hotels and even the best hotels of the area ... For tours with different overnight stops, we offer to transport luggage in time for cyclcists arrival at the next accommodation place. Identification labels are provided for attachment to luggage items which should be left for collection by 9.30am on luggage transport days. Whilst every care will be taken to ensure the safety of luggage items, we suggest customers have travel insurance to cover their luggage items.
We are able to supply good quality hybrid cycles which are suitable for both tarred roads, cycle tracks and forestry roads. The cycles are equiped with a soft gel seat for extra comfort and cycle computer to assist with your distance cycled each day. A repair kit and pump is also supplied. Our cycles are maintained by Castle Douglas Cycle Centre to ensure they are kept in good condition between tours.
