"We would like to say thank you for planning such a wonderful cycling holiday for us. We discovered the unspoilt beauty of Galloway and Dumfries through your expertly planned route. The tour was everything we had hoped for and more as it gave us the opportunity to cycle through stunning landscapes and discover aspects of the scottish culture. The custom designed holiday provided us with routes and accomodation that suited our interests perfectly. The maps and route directions were clear and easy to follow. The accomodation was always good and at times exceptional with very friendly hosts."

Unforseen Cancellation

Galloway Cycling Holidays - The compassionate tour operator – in these tough economic times no one expects to get a non-refundable deposit back but Robin at Galloway Tours was so accommodating and understanding after my husband and I had to cancel our trip to Scotland for medical reasons.  He was able to refund most of our deposit, despite all the work he had done to prepare our bike tour. It was very thoughtful and unexpected – we will definitely be back to book with him next year.

Murder Mystery Cycling Tour - TBMM1
read the Five Red Herrings murder mystery book set in Galloway by Dorthy L. Sayers and visit the locations. Price: from £330 p.p. Cycle hire - £75; Luggage transfer - £100 plus £5 p.p.

This is a 7 day cycling tour following a route to 'real places' mentioned in the Five Red Herrings novel written and set in Galloway. The towns of Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet are heavily featured with several significant countryside locations which you can visit by bicycle.
Lord Peter Wimsey is the sleuth, who was played by Ian Carmichael the veteran actor when the book was serliaised on TV  in 1976. The plot involves the artists colony in Kirkcudbright - which is still the case today as it is themed as an artists town with several art galleries.
In Gatehouse of Fleet, a National Scenic Area, the author Dorothy L. Sayers used to stay the summer months in the Anwoth Hotel, only recently re-named the Ship Inn, where she wrote much of the book. This is now an excellent quality hotel and would be an ideal location to stay during the tour.
So, as well as getting an interesting tour of Galloway by bicycle, you can follow this theme to provide an extra interest. Contact us to obtain more information on this tour.
